Over the past few months, 12 new varieties have been added to bioverita’s list of organically bred vegetable varieties.

The Dutch seed supplier de Bolster has been a member of bioverita since 2022, contributing its breeding activities. Some varieties are already on the bioverita list, whilst others are in the pipeline – as breeder Frans Carree explains.

A place for information, discussion and networking: in February, the ‘Meeting point Organic breeding’ was once again THE go-to destination for organic breeding at the world’s largest organic trade fair.

A new appearance – same message: organic from the start – without genetic engineering! For the fifth time, bioverita organized the organic breeding meeting point at BioFach, bringing a core topic of the organic sector to the heart of the trade fair.

Eleven new vegetable varieties recently received bioverita certification. The list of varieties now comprises 194 varieties.

Kultursaat breeder Christhild Brauch cultivates a variety of vegetable crops at Mönchhof in Hessen. At the same time, she is involved in basic research.

Organic starts with breeding and seeds – and not just with cultivation on certified organic land. The “Meeting Point Organic Breeding” at this year’s BIOFACH drew attention to this fact.

At this year’s BIOFACH, there will once again be a joint stand under the motto “Meeting point organic breeding”. This time, even more partners who are committed to organic breeding will be present.
